Andrew Clarke, an industry veteran in the security industry, serves as Vice President & Managing Director, EMEA at e-DMZ Security, which provides the industry’s first unified solution for management of privilege identity and access control. In this role, he is responsible for driving sales and marketing activities throughout the EMEA region and ensuring that the customers are provided with premium support services for them to maximise their use of the products.
Prior to joining e-DMZ Security, Clarke served as Senior Vice President, International at Lumension. In this role, Clarke oversaw the combination and subsequent growth of the Patchlink and Securewave businesses across EMEA and APAC to establish Lumension as a leader in end-point management and security. Prior to that Clarke served as Vice President & Managing Director of EMEA at CyberGuard Corporation (NASDAQ: CGFW), a security software company specialising in firewall/vpn solutions; secure content management and unified threat management appliances that was acquired by Secure Computing (NASDAQ: SCUR) where he served as Vice President, International Marketing in January 2006. At CyberGuard, Clarke led a number of key initiatives for the company, including the first firewall to achieve the prestigious ITSEC E3 security certifications. Later this work evolved to achieve the first international Common Criteria EAL4+ certification for a firewall/vpn appliance with interactions between agencies from around the world from countries such as Australia, Canada and the USA. This led to the company becoming very successful in major security infrastructures and related suppliers such as systems integrators. Additionally, Clarke developed and implemented the strategy to sell with resellers and then distributors in a 2-tier model. This involved developing strong trusted relationships and providing deep knowledge on the complexities of the diverse information security offerings. Clarke established a number of important communication vehicles that firstly provided education to the channel but then through a series of innovative end-user seminars demonstrated how the offerings “raised the bar on information security” and created strong awareness for the company and its offerings that resulted in increased demand for the channel. The seminar series was rolled out throughout the UK, Europe and the Middle-east and was both educational for the attendees but informative for the company as it evolved its market penetration strategy. Additionally, a series of merger and acquisition activities were implemented adding complementary security products to the portfolio and broadening the geographic coverage of the company. As a direct result of these activities, revenues increased dramatically and CyberGuard became a major recognised force in the Information security market. Clarke has also developed strong relationships with the computer press who have written enthusiastically about these successes.
Before becoming part of CyberGuard, Clarke headed up Marketing in EMEA for Harris Computer Systems a global specialist in both real-time and trusted systems and where the foundations for his activities in the security market were established during the late 1980’s.
Clarke has long enjoyed the challenges of growing a company in the dynamic information security market having earned his undergraduate degree in mathematics (BSc - Hons) from the University of Sheffield in the UK in the early 1980’s.
